About the Artist

Frank Hardy is a self-taught artist in Montgomery, Alabama with a passion for life, music, and all forms of art and fitness.  He began his journey as an artist when he was just a teenager in Selma, Alabama, where he was born and raised.

As a young adult, Frank began boxing and it proved to be fundamental in helping him overcome the trials of his early life.  He believes that for troubled kids, learning the art of boxing can instill dedication, focus and temper management, making them stronger and helping them rise above their surroundings.

Frank has always been very active in his community, and giving back to the area's youth is something he values greatly.  In 1981, Frank was instrumental in the development of the Selma Youth Center, where he taught art, dance and boxing to underprivileged youth for more than 20 years.

In 2011, Frank made one of his dreams a reality by opening The Village Gallery, a unique art gallery and social venue located in historic downtown Montgomery, Alabama.  The Gallery displays the works of Frank and is also a haven for local artists of all types.  He regularly hosts exhibitions for other local artists and showcases local musicians with weekly, live performances.  While Frank is enthusiastic about featuring many different kinds of artwork in his gallery, his own pieces focus primarily on the exquisite beauty of the human form. His medium of choice is oil paint.
